For the third year in a row, Quality First headed over to Divine Savior Catholic Church in a van packed to the brim to participate in a local food drive. A variety of local organizations and churches sponsored the event, which was hosted on Saturday, October 15, 2022.

Local Food For Thought

We’re always happy to make a donation to a good cause — and what could be better than helping the families in our community?

Members of the community banded together to collect donations of canned and non-perishable foods in support of eliminating hunger. Last year, they beat their goal of over 10k pounds of food!

We haven’t heard the totals from this year yet, but based on what we saw, we wouldn’t be surprised if they shattered their goals again.

Putting the “Drive” in “Food Drive”

This specific food drive got its start during the height of the pandemic. In fact, as a relic of our serious social distancing days, it featured a drive-through drop-off. It’s a very effective and efficient method, actually!

At the food drive, Volunteers unpacked food from cars onto dollies, which they wheeled to stations that had been labeled by type: Thanksgiving food, canned food, cereal, etc. Cheerful music played loudly during this public event, which included a few booths from other local organizations. There was even a fire truck, though for a limited time!

Take Action

All proceeds of the 3rd Annual Community Food Drive benefitted the Fair Oaks Orangevale Food Bank in Orangevale, CA. Food donations can always be made after the fact if you are so inclined. You can even donate online if you aren’t local but still want to help. Even a one-time donation would help out!

You can find out more information on the food bank’s website.
